I think 'beat Hit' has the scoop. A buddy of mine was working with a Swiss sax player - Matthias Heimlicher around 97/98 time frame. When he was home for Christmas he told me that Vinnie was working on one of Matthias' projects which included Abe Sr.. Anyway, sometime during the job, Vinne accepted Christ. A commitment he honors today. Evidently, the Sting thing did play a part. What's great is he's got no shortage of gigs and he's playing as well as he ever has.

Thanks for sharing, Gamdem. But I'm sorry to say that I have to agree with Pocket and the others; From the posts I've seen from you and others involved, it's unfortunately very easy to say that you don't really "carry the fruit from a good tree". Please, sort things out, or you're putting Christ in a bad light.

hey fellas... speaking of vinnie representin for the lord, does anyone have info obout vinnie playing live with ron kenoly, the gospel artist.. i heard that there was a dvd also.....

There is a video live from Spain or is it Rome, and a cd that goes with it. Not sure if it's on DVD.

Hi guys...I bought the Ron Keneoly CD when I was in my mad 'get anything with Vinnie on' phase. It's a great live recording, straight - ahead praise songs, but unmistakeably Vinnie. I'll do copies if anyone's really interested?
I also got a Cliff Richard CD with Vinnie on 80% of the tracks....for those who don't know - Cliff is/was the Uk's 'answer' to Elvis(yeh, right!). He's known for looking perpetually young and being a born-again Christian.You might not like the tunes, but Vinnie is, as ever, so tasteful & so identifiable.

I think 1998 would be the right year for Vinnie's rendez-vous with JC.

I remember seeing Vinnie at the Montreal Drum Fest in November 1998. Vinnie came onstage just after he learned that his friend and bandmate Kenny Kirkland (Sting's pianist) was found dead from drug abuse in his apartment.

Vinnie made a little christian speech and got the crowd to silent for a few minutes. Then he slowly went to his kit, sat down, closed his eyes, concentrated and then... HE PLAYED MAN! Played like there's no tomorrow. The longest and most intense drum solo I've ever heard. You could feel his emotions. I think he was expressing his pain and paying tribute to his friend through what he does best...play drums.
